The Town of Westlake invites the community to celebrate the 10th Annual Arbor Day Celebration, on Saturday, September 26, 4 p.m. to sunset, at Glenwyck Farms Park, 1601 Fair Oaks Drive, Westlake, Texas, 76262. This year’s event will feature a live-butterfly release in addition to traditional activities.
The Town of Westlake has been an advocate for Arbor Day, a celebrated community event since 1999. Families may enjoy hot air balloon and hay rides, petting zoo, arts and crafts, and fishing derbies in addition to the games, hot dogs and hamburgers, and live entertainment for all ages, including the Jim Egger Jazz Trio and a Guitar Hero Rock Stand. Children will enjoy the “Bees and Bugs” booths as well as the showing of Pixar’s animated film “A Bug’s Life” at sunset. Westlake Historical Preservation Society will have a booth at the event, providing information on the society and selling copies of the town’s history book “The Little Town That Could,” by Joyce Gibson Roach.
A special blended commemorative 10th Annual Arbor Day Anniversary wine will also be available for $15. Purchases are required for hot air balloon rides and refreshments. Remaining activities and entrance to the event are free.
“Arbor Day is always a fun and exciting day for area families,” stated Tom Brymer, Town Manager. “We are excited to celebrate the event’s 10th Anniversary this year and delighted that Westlake has also been granted the privilege of being named ‘Tree City USA’ by the National Arbor Day Foundation each year.”
The Town of Westlake is planting trees to mitigate pollution while providing beauty, shade, and homes for our incredible array of wildlife. Communities all benefit from planting trees along our streets for every building permit issued and adding trees on public land wherever possible. Arbor Day celebrates not only the heritage of our forefathers, but also provides a legacy for future generations. Small trees will be available for purchase at the Arbor Day Celebration.
Numerous sponsorship levels are available at the following levels: Band Sponsor, $2,500; Hot Air Balloon, $2,000; Event Sponsor ($1,000); Sponsor ($500); and Community Friends Sponsor ($250). Make checks payable to The Town of Westlake/Arbor Day 09; 3 Village Circle, Ste. 202, Westlake, TX 76262.
