"Under the Moonlight" Gala
Each spring, “Under the Moonlight” helps RMHD raise funds to support the 1,200 families it hosts throughout the year while their children are receiving treatment for illnesses or injuries at Dallas hospitals. This will be the first year for the event to be held at the Westin Dallas Downtown, which opened last year in the central business district next to Belo Garden.

Cara Mía Theatre Co. presents Yemaya’s Belly By Pulitzer Prize Winning Playwright Quiara Alegría Hudes March 4- 19, 2017 at the Latino Cultural Center Written by Pulitzer Prize winning playwright of Water by the Spoonful and a collaborator with Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton) on the musical In The Heights, Quiara Alegría Hudes creates an unflinching view of the struggle to reach the United States of America through whimsy and brutal honesty with Yemaya’s Belly. Former Cara Mía Theatre Co. Artistic Director, Marisela Barrera, returns to Dallas to direct Yemaya’s Belly. A boy is born into a humble farming family on a Latin American island, but after his first taste of a cold Coca-Cola, he dreams of a world beyond his family's meager acre. Yemaya’s Belly follows the boy's epic journey into manhood and materialism, from farm to city, to a raft sailing to the north to meet the "President of America". The design team for Yemaya’s Belly includes Mark Pearson (lighting design), S-Ankh Rasa (original composition/ musician), Ryan Matthieu Smith (costume design), and Kenneth Verdugo (set design). 2017 Go Red For Women Luncheon
The Tarrant County Go Red For Women Luncheon, which will be held Thursday March 2, 2017, draws more than 750 business executives, medical professionals, and community leaders. It begins mid-morning with an array of activities, including health screenings, educational breakout sessions and a silent auction. This year’s event chair is Gaylan Hendricks, CEO of Insurance Marketing Group. At noon, guests enjoy a heart-healthy lunch, personal testimonies by women who have successfully battled heart disease, and will listen to a dynamic keynote presentation by Dr. Suzanne Steinbaum, Cardiologist and National Spokesperson for Go Red For Women.

The Texas MG Register’s 2017 Spring Gathering of the Faithful will be held for the 42nd time in Salado, TX May 11-14. The theme will be “The Magic Never Ends”. The event starts at the Salado Winery on Thursday, May 11 at 4pm. There will be scenic drives, lunches, dinners and time to visit other MG owners during the weekend. 23rd Annual Deep Ellum Arts Festival
The Deep Ellum Arts Festival is proud to celebrate its 23rd anniversary this year from Friday, April 7 through Sunday, April 9. Voted “Best Festival in Dallas” by local polls and ranked by participating artists among the top 50 arts festivals in the nation, the free to attend festival, which annually occurs on the first full weekend of April, will take place this year starting at Malcolm X Blvd. and ending at Exposition Hall outside the iconic Sons of Hermann Hall. The festival opens for lunch on Friday at 11 a.m., offering downtown office workers a special opportunity to preview the festival during their lunch break. With dozens of concessionaires and local restaurants, guests can enjoy a wide array of tasty local cuisines, beer, wine and cocktails while experiencing more than 200 juried fine artists. All artists will be displaying and selling their works, many of which will be created live. The exquisite collections showcased will include paintings, sculptures, murals, jewelry and other original works of art. Various Deep Ellum musicians and artists will be creating and inspiring live, local art to happen as they keep the spirit of Dallas alive in the Deep Ellum, TX Village area at the open lot located at the corner of Main and Malcolm X Blvd. Food fares from popular Deep Ellum restaurants will also be available for purchase in this area. The adult-oriented three-day festival, which will cover six city blocks of Main Street in Dallas’ Entertainment District, will also feature more than 150 performances including bands and solo musicians from all over the metroplex and beyond performing only original music representing a variety of genres from four outdoor stages and two new indoor stages inside the iconic Sons of Hermann Hall. Kicking off this April, this year’s festival will also feature street performers, jugglers and other whimsical characters throughout the weekend, along with Poetry Slam’s open mic.
