Born out of a need for meaningful developmental opportunities for local guitarists, the Fort Worth Guitar Guild was incorporated in 1998 as a Texas Non-Profit Organization. In the spring of 2001 it was granted federal non-profit status in the IRS code 501 (c) 3. Its legal name is Classic Guitar in Fort Worth, Inc..
