Designed by architect Philip Johnson and opened to the public in 1961, the Amon Carter Museum of American Art houses one of the nation's outstanding collections of American art. Its holdings include iconic works by artists from Thomas Cole, John Singer Sargent, Frederic Remington, and Winslow Homer to Thomas Eakins, Alexander Calder, William H. Johnson, and Geogia O'Keeffe.
