The Hedary family that owns this terrific Lebanese restaurant in Fort Worth used to have another in Dallas, but it closed in 2005 (they still have one in Las Vegas). Too bad for Dallas; the cooking at Hedary's is wonderful.
If you go with a crowd, spring for the $24.50 maza spread – it's a generous array of 10 small plates, including amazing, silky hummus bit-tahini, superb house-made stuffed grape leaves and sumptuous labneh, plus incredible puffy, house-made bread called khubz. I had hoped to order the raw lamb kibbeh (kibbi nyyi on the menu), but it wasn't available that night; the regular kibbeh, which I ordered grilled, didn't disappoint, though. Sujuk, the house-made beef sausage, was excellent, too.
A number of Lebanese vintages (and one Israeli red) are included on the very decent wine list; there's also Turkish coffee that rocks. Desserts were less impressive than the rest, save for the outstanding rice pudding with rose water. Service was fairly efficient, but on the brusque side.

We received via e-mail a notification that on 20-Sep, Hedary's would have a "Frarej Night": if you took out, you'd get your Frarej chicken at half price. We jumped at the offer. Frarej chicken was one of the signature dishes of Hedary's which we remembered fondly... about four, five years ago... We liked the lemony taste, the crisp, slightly burned skin, the ever so slighly burned potatoes. I called in the order, pick-up time 6 P.M. I arrived at 5.55 P.M....the "To-order" entrance was so crowded one couldn't get in. And then, I waited and waited and waited. Finally the order came: at 6.40 P.M. ... Obviously staff and kitchen were rushed, overwhelmed. When I got the food home, what a disappointment: the skin of the chicken was barely browned, and chewey, the meat not completely cooked through; the potatoes were on the raw side. Not even a fast food place would serve something like that. Unbelievable...
If you think I hadn't been there before, think again: I have known Hedary's since the time it started on White Settlement Road, under the moniker "Lebanese Pizza", around 1996 or so... Papa Hedary thought, that "Pizza" in English meant "Restaurant"...
But now, with the "old guard" gone, it seems that Hedary's has been on a steady and quite accelerated downhill slide: a formerly very good restaurant going to pot.
I'd say: stay away.
As for myself, it certainly is going to be some time, before I patronize Hedary's again...
