P.R.I.N.T. funtions in three ways.
First as an invitation-only collaborative press, P.R.I.N.T. invites artists -- many of whom do not traditionally work in print -- to create an editioned work. A master printer in the P.R.I.N.T. Press guides the artist through the process and handles the technical aspects of printmaking. From 1993-2006, works were created with the help of master printers Stan Baden, Catherine Chauvin and Mike Hart. P.R.I.N.T. will be brining in guest master printer, Ryan Burkhart, and artist Jiha Moon, for a weeklong collaborative project Spring 2010.
Second, P.R.I.N.T. hosts short term, hands-on workshops by accomplished printmakers for artists, students, and members of the public.
Third, P.R.I.N.T. collaborates with professional arts organizations and artists to provide individual opportunities for exploring print media.
Vision: To act as a printmaking catalyst, by providing a fertile environment for innovative collaborative printmaking to occur by bringing together recognized artists, students, printmakers and acting as a resource for both traditional and experimental techniques.
Mission
-Create significant contributions to contemporary art through printmaking which would not occur without the catalyst of PRINT.
-Promote and preserve the art of printmaking.
-Educate students through exploration, artists lectures, workhops, and exposure to collaborative printmaking. P.R.I.N.T. is also available on a limited rental "open shop" basis to experienced printmakers.
-Serve the North Texas region as a cultural resource for the public at large through lectures and workshops, enrich the aesthetic environment with contemporary art for exhibition and sale, and provide workshops and work space available on a contract basis for practicing artists in the region.
