Opened Oct. 25, 2011.
Now don't get me wrong. I love tofu. But I have one friend who, to this day, calls it toad food and screws up his face at the mention.
Let me tell you about Dallas' newest vegan restaurant, V Spot Cafe, in the heart of trendy Henderson Avenue next to Pearl Cup. Owner Delia Pisarro, who also owns Bliss Cafe & Elixir Bar, soft-opened V Spot Cafe 10 days ago and says there's no tofu or seitan in the house.
It is, she says, like no vegan restaurant in Dallas. The menu, she says, includes items such as the blooming lotus appetizer (think blooming onion), Italian nachos (on pizza chips), portabello fries, creamy poblano chowder, an eggplant stack, house-made pasta, wild mushroom risotto with butternut squash, tacos, an Asian stir-fry and more. Pisarro's chef is Toria Villarreal. Check out some good, pre-opening pics on City of Ate.
The spot has a full juice bar, will shortly have kombucha on tap - and feel free to BYOB, she says. Hours are 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday - for now. They may change.
