If we were using Hollywood's preferred method of summary, then Jack's Backyard would be shorthanded as Lee Harvey's-meets-Bolsa, but with a harder-rocking indie vibe.

In the lead is longtime Cedar Springs tavern-keeper Kathy Jack who, along with her partner-chef, Susie Buck, just wanted to create a cool place for friends to hang out.

And that she has, from the cold beer and half-pound burgers in this hip, renovated auto garage to the pool tables and live music.

That's our kind of backyard social.
