Dunn and Brown Contemporary was founded in 1999 by Talley Dunn and Lisa Hirschler Brown, and the partners have worked overtime since the gallery's launch in October of that year to achieve an impressive measure of success. The gallery's stable of artists has grown to include nationally recognized talents such as Linda Ridgway, David Bates, Annette Lawrence, Helen Altman, Sam Reveles and more. In 2000, five gallery artists - Vernon Fisher, Brian Fridge, Trenton Doyle Hancock, Joseph Havel, and Nic Nicosia - were included in New York's renowned Whitney Biennial.
Early in 2001, Dunn and Brown opened a new 10,000-square-foot exhibition space, which now serves as the primary gallery space. The new "Main Gallery," as it's called, incorporates open space, high ceilings, and natural light as a pleasing backdrop to the work on display.
