New Tech High @ Coppell opened its doors in August 2008. At NTH@C, students learn traditional core subjects as well as 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, collaboration and technological proficiency. We believe rigorous academics and 21st-century skills prepare graduates for success in postsecondary education and the careers of tomorrow.
All classes incorporate project-based learning. Projects are based on real-world scenarios in which students must apply knowledge, not just memorize information.
In this collaborative learning environment, learners (as we call our students) are active, responsible and in charge of their education. We refer to our teachers as facilitators because they assist learners in their learning journey but are not the sole source of information.
Our campus is technology-rich, mimicking a workplace where all participants have access to the technological tools they need to complete their work. The campus is fully wireless with a 1:1 ratio of students to computers and ubiquitous use of networked laptops.
In addition to rigorous academics, we prepare learners for the world of work through presentations and interactions with the business community. Local business leaders and educators frequently attend and evaluate learner presentations and final products. All learners also complete a job-shadowing experience and a job internship.
