Damond Fields has always been in love with Soul. That’s why 15 years ago, he decided to blend his passions for Soul Food and Soul Music into a single restaurant that would embody both. Sankofa was born, and for the last 15 years the restaurant has served Dallas an array of modern takes on Soul classics with a twist of New Orleans Cajun flavor and a soundtrack to match.

With the help Damond’s sister and executive chef Joslynn Fields, who was personal chef to musician and strict Vegan Erykah Badu for almost 10 years, Sankofa pays homage to both the Golden Age of Hip Hop and the warmth and love of Big Mama’s kitchen on Sundays after church.
